Driving tours of Scotland

Self Drive Car Tours throughout Scotland

From years of experience of the best of Scotland we have developed four tour concepts , two based within a region and two based on a theme . Within these tours we can customize the tour for you. By completing our on line questionnaire we can compile the unique Scottish Touring vacation. We have adopted this approach because we quickly realized that each person has their own unique reason for visiting Scotland - you may come  for the wild open spaces, the fascinating history and historic places, for a very active holiday  (with cycling , walking and horse riding included) or you may wish to stay in luxury castles , or visit the Islands -  indeed the list is somewhat endless.

The countryside of Scotland is really very varied . Within the central belt betLoch Lomondween Edinburgh and Glasgow the region is fairly flat farming pastures. As we move north from Edinburgh the Highland Fault ( formed during the ice ages ) is crossed after only around 30 miles , as we travel north from here, further into the ‘Highlands’, there are less roads , the land becomes more mountainous , we start to see many Lochs and the distances between hamlets increases. As we travel north of Inverness even major roads feel like minor roads. However since there are less roads and many visitors like to visit the ‘Highlands’ then during the summer months of July and August the roads are busier than normal, out with these times to roads are very quiet.

River TweedAs you travel south of Edinburgh the countryside is not mountainous but is undulating , we have few Lochs in this region but  the scenery is still very beautiful. This region is filled with a great amount of history. This region also has many very minor roads and also a very sparse population but even during the summer months you will find many roads with very few cars and many places will never seem too busy.

The west coast and the islands offer a very unique relaxing  environment. The coastal areas are very dramatic , there are some wonderful beaches and time in many plPaxton House Bordersaces feels as though it has stood still. The west coast can be added into either of our regional tours.

We do not provide car rental. This we feel is a very personal item and all the major rental operators can be found in the Scottish airports. We suggest you contact your preferred company , Hertz , Avis in your home country and book direct for the best deal by shopping around .
