7 , 10 , 14 night Self Drive Car tours
Tour Itinerary Day 1 Arrive at Edinburgh , Glasgow or Prestwick airports and pick up your car. Drive to your first nights stay just outside Edinburgh but convenient to access to the city.
Day 2 Your first day exploring the city of Edinburgh. Much to see and do - follow one of our walking guides around the old or new town , visit the Castle , Royal Mile , Palace and Cathedral. Have lunch in a trendy bar or old fashioned pub. Take the open top bus tour and get a grand overview of the city. Go on a ghost hunt in the underground city. We provide all the details of places to see in the city to allow you to plan your days visit. Day 3 onwards Your tour now generally follows the red route on the map for the 7 night holiday allowing you plenty of time to visit places on route and soak up the Scottish atmosphere or try some activities. The optional extensions, indicated blue, on the map are used for longer stay holidays where more time The red route will take you across the famous Forth Road Bridge where you will see the ancient railway bridge designed by Brunel before heading towards St. Andrews, the home of golf and a very old ancient town. Visit the old priory and ruined castle or take a round of golf. Then we head north to Glamis Castle , the childhood home of the former Queen Mother and onto the historic village of Dunkeld which has been beautifully restored. It’s then onto the Victorian town of Pitlochry and maybe a visit to Blair Castle or a visit to a Whisky Distillery. We then head north and westwards taking in the Great Glen ( Loch Ness ) and onto Fort William , be adventurous and climb Ben Nevis or at least take the chair lift. We then head down the west Coast, with stunning scenery so famous of Scotland, before stopping in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Possible Options - Edinburgh tour as standard - Visit St Andrews and the home of golf and historic town - 3 great castles - Glamis , Blair , Menzies , Falkland Palace - Cycling , walking , boat trips are all possible in the Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park - Ride on a 1800’s steam locomotive - Children’s Theme / Adventure Park - Visit Educational parks / science centres within Glasgow or Dundee - Whisky Distilleries - too many to mention - Activities such as Clay Pigeon Shooting , 4x4 Driving , Quad Biking - Stay a night or more in a castle - Island visits - Skye , Islay , Jura , Mull ( extended tour ) What’s Included 7 ,10 ,14 nights bed and breakfast in a twin / double room in STB graded accommodation .
